An international oilfield service company was running a North African campaign to secure wells and restore production for a global operator. The wells needed a specialised flow-control solution — and conventional suppliers were quoting extended lead times at premium pricing with no guarantee of fit.
The Challenge
The requirement was a retrofit flow-control solution compatible with an existing Tubing-Retrievable Safety Valve (TRSV) system — a 4½” configuration rated for 10,000–15,000 psi at 350°F (177°C). The scope included a Metal-to-Metal (MTM) Equalising Valve, all associated accessories, and matching Running & Pulling Tools.
- Complex retrofit engineering — no off-the-shelf solution available
- Conventional suppliers quoting extended lead times at premium pricing
- Zero room for failure — equipment had to perform on first run
- An active campaign at risk of losing momentum
The MCT Approach
The operator engaged the Map Completion Tech team. Rather than offering a generic product, MCT’s engineering team worked directly with the customer to fully understand the existing TRSV configuration and design a solution engineered to fit — not adapted to fit.
The complete engineered solution was delivered in 6 weeks — from initial engagement to field-ready equipment. MCT priced it fairly, supported the customer through execution, and remained engaged until the equipment had performed in the field.
The Result
| Parameter | Value |
|---|---|
| System rating | 10,000 – 15,000 psi / 350°F (177°C) |
| Valve type | 4½” TRSV with MTM Equalising Valve |
| Delivery time | 6 weeks (engineering + manufacture) |
| Wells restored | 3 wells flowing |
| First-run outcome | Success — zero NPT |
Today, 3 wells are flowing and the campaign is moving forward on schedule. The retrofit solution performed exactly as engineered — no modifications, no delays, no non-productive time.
What Made the Difference
The metal-to-metal equalising valve design was the critical technical factor. At 350°F sustained temperature and pressures up to 15,000 psi, elastomer-dependent sealing systems carry material degradation risk over time. MCT’s MTM primary seal maintains integrity across temperature cycles and differential pressure reversals — essential for a long-life TRSV retrofit in a harsh North African environment.
Beyond the engineering, the difference was responsiveness. When conventional suppliers could not meet the timeline, MCT delivered the complete solution — engineered, manufactured, and field-ready — in six weeks.
